The International Women of Istanbul (IWI) is a social organization that brings together international women of all ages and cultures in Istanbul. We have over 600 members representing 56 different countries. There is no such thing as a typical IWI member.

We have members who have been with the IWI for over 40 years and our newest members who have been in Istanbul less than a month. Some of our members are long-term residents of Istanbul and some of our members are here for a short or medium term posting.

Our members' ages range from women in their early 20's to women in their early 80's and about 40% of our members work either part-time or full-time. Some women have children still at home, some have children living abroad, and some have not got children.

As a newcomer, we will help you feel more at home in Istanbul and give you a great start to your time in this fabulous city. If you are a current resident, we offer you a chance to meet new friends and further explore all the possibilities that an exciting city like Istanbul offers.

As a member of the IWI you will receive Lale which is the IWI magazine, our e-newsletter every two weeks, a monthly program calendar which has a wide range of social activities, cultural tours and interest group meetings. We challenge you to see our full list of activities and interest groups and not find something that appeals to you! For full membership details, click here.

Our charitable activities and volunteer opportunities provide an additional opportunity to become actively involved with the local community. Each year we have two events, which support the General Charity Fund: the Annual Christmas Bazaar and the Annual Spring Ball. They are completely organized and staffed by IWI volunteers - we hope you will join us either as a volunteer or as a participant!

Whether you are a long-term resident or a new comer, a mother, a stay at home or working professional, we are sure there is always something for you at the IWI!
