Join us for a special insider's view into multi-cultural Istanbul starting at the grand Ashkenazi Synagogue in Galata with its unique arches and rosette windows and its dome decorated with Stars of David, a rare opportunity to visit this lovely building, not open to the public.
Next up Galata's back streets and into a small garden with ducks, we will visit the Anglican Church (since 1582) run by the parish Father Ian, and a look at the wonderful contemporary icons painted by Scottish Artist Mungo McCosh. A world in it's own.
After lunch, we will take a ferry up the Golden Horn to the third most sacred mosque in Islam housing a spectacular 15th cent. İznik tiled wall in it's courtyard. Again, a dive into a completely different world, all part of this cities life.
