This walk starts in the colorful and lively fish market of Kadiköy located on the Asian part of Istanbul and into the silence of an Armenian chapel.
With a simple cross over to the other side of the street we dive into another world, a neglected area in the process of being gentrified. Among the tattered art deco buildings, facing the majestic Haydarpaşa train station, we find a series of gigantic surreal murals commissioned by the Kadiköy municipality.
We'll take a short dolmuş ride away into the district of Üsküdar, and below a picturesque hilltop we walk down to the lovely Bosphorus village of Kuzguncuk known for many things, it’s long history of religious tolerance, it's large number of artists and intellectuals, black sea villagers, a soft Bosphorus breeze and it’s beautiful traditional wooden houses looking over a rare city garden.
We will make a stop for an optional lunch (not included in the fee) at a local eatery. We will continue towards Üsküdar pier which is the final destination and where the boats will depart to Beşiktaş on the European side.
Please do wear comfortable shoes.
